Man Arrested in Turkey Over 2020 Manchester Double Murder

A 36-year-old man was arrested in Turkey and flown to England on October 10, 2026, in connection with the fatal shooting of two men during a lockdown party in Manchester more than six years ago.

Junior Ajose, 36, and Cheriff Tall, 21, were shot dead in a car park off Caythorpe Street in the Moss Side area of Manchester following an argument at a lockdown party on June 21, 2020.

Suspect Extradited From Turkey to Stansted Airport

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the suspect was detained in Turkey before being transported back to England on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Officers met the flight at Stansted Airport, where the man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson, from the force’s Major Incident Team, noted the scope of the inquiry since the 2020 killings.

Gunman Targets Two Men at Moss Side Gathering

An estimated 300 to 400 people had gathered in the car park off Caythorpe Street in the early hours of June 21, 2020. Witnesses reported that a gunman shot Cheriff Tall first, and 20 seconds later blasted ‘Good Samaritan’ Mr Ajose, who had stepped in to help.

Both men, who did not know each other before that night, suffered gunshot wounds to the head and later died in hospital. At a 2024 inquest, Manchester Area Coroner Zak Golombek recorded unlawful killing verdicts and described the incident as senseless acts of violence against two innocent individuals.

Police Renew Appeals and £50,000 Reward

Police report that they have faced reluctance from individuals present at the crowded gathering to come forward with eyewitness accounts.

A £50,000 reward remains available for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for the double homicide.

“This arrest demonstrates our unwavering commitment to securing justice for Junior and Cheriff and their loved ones.”

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson, GMP’s Major Incident Team

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson reiterated that our investigation does not stop here, and we will continue to pursue answers for the families of those affected.
