The Pavia-Venice raid won by Guido Carli was such a success – despite the shift of the start to Sannazzaro d’Ongina (Pc) for the Ticino shoal – that the 2022 edition is already on the calendar: the date will be Sunday 5 June. “The reasons for this choice are basically three – explains Angelo Poma, head of the organization for Motonautica Pavia – the Venice boat show will be open from 29 May to 5 June next year and we have been asked, especially by the mayor Brugnaro. , to make sure that the arrival of the raid coincides with the last day of the event, so as to close it in style. The other reason is that the first Sunday in June is the historic date of the raid. Last but not least the fact that placing it on that date will allow us to have fewer problems with the various associations active along the Po in the management of protected natural areas. However, we are in constant contact with the Municipality of Venice ».
On the stage of the awards ceremony at the Venice Arsenal, the president of the Federmotonautica, Jacoianni reiterated the concept that the raid has restarted and that it is firmly intentioned to propose it again next year. “Having 90 members after ten years of hiatus is a symptom of success – emphasizes Poma – the new formula has proved to be a winner, as it allows everyone, including those who own a pleasure boat, to be able to compete”.
The return after 10 years
Poma and the return of the raid: «When we and the Monautica di Venezia decided to re-propose the Pavia-Venice, we never expected that it could immediately collect so many enthusiastic adhesions. This encourages us to immediately think about the next edition, which will be the seventieth and which we will try to improve further ». The problem of the level of Ticino and Po will unfortunately be an unpredictable constant. «The road is open and let’s go on in any case – Poma points out – I was amazed and pleased by the great participation of young people who competed with fast pleasure boats and who told me that next year they want to try again». The raid is once again a test bed for testing new engines. The example was given by Guido Cappellini, who chose the Pavia-Venezia to test the new Mercury four-stroke engine in the race. «I can say that Cappellini is already thinking about the 2022 raid – underlines Poma – he wants to prepare the race with extreme attention. For both Guido and his team Abu Dhabi has become a challenge. It will be very important for us to have an award-winning rider like him at the start again ». –
