About 1,700 people involved in the Tokyo Olympics have entered Japan without quarantine, and positive cases of new crown have been found

According to news from the “Tokyo Shimbun” on the 8th, the Japanese government stated on the Senate Final Accounts Committee on the 7th that from April to May, about 1,700 Olympic-related personnel had not been quarantined after entering Japan, accounting for the period from April to May. About 85% of the total number of people involved in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, one of them was tested for the new crown virus four days after entering the country and the result was positive.

According to the response of the Cabinet Secretariat, the number of persons allowed to enter the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games was 991 in April and 1012 in May, of which 865 and 842 were “special entry” respectively. In an interview with the Tokyo Shimbun, the Cabinet Office stated that one of the people who had not been quarantined had a positive nucleic acid test four days after entering the country. It is reported that the positive patient was negative in the airport quarantine and nucleic acid test three days after entry. It is said that there is no close contact and no spread of infection.

At present, the Japanese government refuses entry of new tourists from all countries and regions in principle. After entering Japan, Japanese and foreigners with long-term residence qualifications are required to quarantine at home for 14 days, and those who enter Japan from countries or regions where the mutated new crown virus is prevalent are required to be quarantined in designated facilities3 To 10 days. On the other hand, athletes and related personnel who enter the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games “special entry” will be exempted from entry quarantine, and can be trained while undergoing nucleic acid testing after entry.

In this regard, Tetsuro Fukuyama, the secretary general of the Cadet Party, pointed out that there are also positive patients among those who have been allowed to “exceptionally enter” because of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. This indicates that the epidemic prevention policy is imperfect. (Headquarters reporter He Xinlei)
