Which vaccines will be accepted?
The four vaccines that have obtained the authorizations for use by the European Medicines Agency (Ema) and the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa): the Vaxzevria vaccine by AstraZeneca, the Moderna vaccine, the Comirnaty vaccine by Pfizer-BioNTech and the Janssen vaccine (Johnson & Johnson). Can the certificate be issued after the first dose?
Yes. Each country is free to recognize and issue the Pass even after the first dose. The number of doses will be clearly stated in the EU digital Covid certificate to indicate if the vaccination cycle has been completed. Each State can decide to behave as it sees fit, in this case: therefore, for example, Italy can issue the Pass after the first dose (as it has decided to do), but France is free not to recognize it and to request a cycle. complete vaccination or test. However, the regulation also requires Member States to accept vaccination certificates under the same conditions, i.e. if a Member State decides to abolish travel restrictions for its citizens who have a certificate for the first dose of a two-dose vaccine, must extend the same treatment to other EU citizens.
How will the EU green pass work?
The certificate contains a QR code with a digital signature to prevent it from being falsified. When checking the certificate, the QR code is scanned and the
verification of the signature. Each issuing body (such as a hospital, test center or health authority) has its own digital signature key. All keys are stored in a secure database in each country. On 1 June the Commission activated a gateway through which all certificate signatures can be verified across the EU.
Will the EU green pass be accepted in Switzerland and in the EEA countries?
The countries of the SEE (European Economic Area) Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will be able to use the EU digital Covid certificate system. Swiss certificates should be accepted under the same conditions as the EU digital Covid certificate, after reciprocity is confirmed by Switzerland
Can children get an EU digital Covid certificate?
Yes, children can get it. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has given the green light to use the BioNTech Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15. Children can also receive a test or healing certificate. Children under 6 years of age will also be exempt from testing. While those aged 6 and over, however, will have to undergo a swab to get the pass.
