by admin

Struck down by an illness at the age of 56, he had played 11 Serie A championships with Amatori and as a coach he had brought Etna back to the top flight

There are news that you would never want to know, moments in which you would like time to go back and erase everything, but unfortunately it is not.

Ezio Vittorio, historic coach of Amatori Catania and former rugby player, son of our beloved city, died of an illness at the age of 56. It’s hard to find the right words in these circumstances, especially when everything happens so fast, too fast. Ezio left us a few hours ago, and it’s still hard to believe. All those who have learned to know him over the years know what kind of person he was, they will always have appreciated his kind smile and noble soul, which blended well with the strong character and warrior spirit of those on the bench who gave everything for his guys, knowing they would do the same for him. A news that has shaken the whole world of Sicilian rugby, a loss that will leave a huge void in the lives of all those who were close to him.

Vittorio, a member of the red and white club already at the age of 10, made his debut in the first team at just 15 years old playing eleven Serie A championships.
