BMW Remote Software Upgrade for 1.3 million vehicles

by admin

The roll out of the new BMW Remote Software Upgrade for 1.3 million vehicles equipped with the BMW ID 7 Operating System has begun. Amazon Alexa integration will be available for four additional markets. The update also includes improvements, such as the addition of the traditional destination entry method in BMW Maps. The upcoming BMW Remote Software Upgrade will update the BMW ID 7 Operating System to Version 21-03. The roll out in Germany began on 1 June 2021, covering more and more BMW Connected Drive markets around the world. In total, more than 1.3 million BMW vehicles (and more than 20 models) will receive the update. Customers will now have in their car many of the Alexa features they already know and love to use at home: add items to shopping lists, check news, play music or control compatible smart home devices. Alexa is currently available for vehicles with BMW ID 7 Operating System in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Spain and Italy. The update includes four additional countries – France, USA, Canada and Brazil. The BMW Maps navigation system was launched in mid-2020 for vehicles equipped with BMW ID 7 Operating System. The system, for the first time cloud-based, makes route calculation significantly faster and more dynamic by combining real-time information and predictive models. The cloud also contains additional information on over 120 million points of interest such as ratings, opening hours and images. The POI database is updated several times a week, at short and regular intervals. The simplest method of entering the destination is through dialogue with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. With BMW Maps, further improvements have been implemented in terms of ease of use via touch or BMW controller. For example, One-Box Search was used for the first time allowing customers to search for addresses and places as they are used to when entering text into web search engines. To filter the database that allows you to view the suggestions, algorithms are already used during text input (autocompletion). Many BMW customers want the familiar on-screen Search Mask to enter the destination (country, place, street, house number). BMW always aims to offer customers the best possible experience. Product management and developers have decided to re-implement traditional search in BMW Maps, which is now available to customers in addition to the One-Box Search. The adaptation for BMW Maps is activated after installing the current BMW Remote Software Upgrade. Among the improvements offered by this update, there is also the possibility to permanently save the Lane Departure Warning settings. If customers do not wish to benefit from Lane Departure Warning, they can deactivate the function in the settings by storing it in the corresponding BMW ID. The function is only reactivated if the customer makes the corresponding change in the settings. A further improvement inherent in the update of the BMW operating system corrects a display error during media playback via Android smartphones connected via Bluetooth (with Android 11). After the update, the artwork will be processed correctly when you change music. In some models equipped with BMW ID 7 Operating System the Surround View on the control display was not positioned correctly. This too has now been corrected as part of the quality improvements introduced with the update. (ITALPRESS). tvi / com 07-Jun-21 11:11
