FLORENCE. Rino Gattuso’s adventure at Fiorentina is likely to end before starting. Strong tensions have arisen between the former Napoli coach and the Viola club related to the market and in particular to the figure of Jorge Mendes, the powerful agent of the Calabrian coach as well as of CR7. His position of reference – if not his impositions – for some negotiations on objectives considered important would not have been appreciated by Fiorentina. Hence, a distance has now been created between Gattuso and Fiorentina less than two weeks after the official announcement of his arrival in purple, with the signing of a two-year contract that at this point may not be deposited in the League.
The story between Gattuso and the patron Commisso seemed to have begun on the right foot, both from Calabria and also united by frankness and pragmatism. Now, however, the purple diplomacy is at work to try to smooth out the situation and restore the calm but the hypothesis of a sensational early divorce is not at all excluded. And at that point the club should quickly get to work to identify a new manager and reschedule the transfer market with him.
Fiorentina’s situation is constantly evolving. Another twist could be represented by the farewell of Giancarlo Antognoni, authentic flag of the viola. For now, he has been offered a new role that smacks of downgrading: he should deal with the youth sector and scouting and the former number Ten is seriously considering what to do.
