The Rally returns to Alghero from the next edition

by admin

The president of the ACI of Sassari Pes: «We will respect the principle of alternation. Of course, Gallura, which this year responded in a big way, will be involved ”

OLBIA. Game over. The world rally ended on Sunday afternoon and it is already time for final results. It was a good party, because the recent openings have brought spectators closer together and with the moving of the base of the event to Olbia, as well as in the usual historical locations that have seen the race pass several times (Buddusò, Tempio, Tula, Castelsardo … ), many countries this time hosted the world championship race for the first time ever. And so for this baptism in the world championship there was a lot of enthusiasm in Bortigiadas, Vignola, Aglientu and Santa Teresa Gallura, where the Rally Italia Sardegna was truly a first. An edition that has had the merit of offering a renewed, difficult and variegated route, given the greater proximity of the Gallura and Monte Acuto special stages to the operational headquarters in Olbia, therefore passes into the annals. The excellent dialogue between the Automobile Club of Italy and the Region of Sardinia has meant that the race has long been included in the calendar for 2022, a calendar that will be made official on 8 July by the FIA, as confirmed in Olbia in the days past from the WRC Promoter. And according to the first rumors, the return to Alghero of the world championship event is already practically certain, according to a principle of rotation established by the two cities with the approval of the Region, which sees at this moment as never before the world rally as an excellent vehicle for propaganda of the image of Sardinia in the world.

Olbia has made itself completely available – commented the president of the ACI of Sassari Giulio Pes di San Vittorio – offering collaboration and synergy, as well as many new municipalities that have made territories and resources available, understanding the importance of the event. The Region has already declared its willingness to continue beyond 2022, which will allow us to plan and work serenely in organizational terms for the near future. According to the agreements there will be a return to Alghero next year, also involving the city of Olbia and Gallura, which this year have responded really well. There was a lot of enthusiasm all over the place, the audience was very disciplined. No tests have been canceled, a record that only this race can boast. Aci Sport then proved once again to be a great organization at the top, as it redesigned the race from scratch in times of pandemic in just seven months. As ACI Sassari we have instead organized a “Green Project” in Alghero, with the exhibition of electric vehicles to prepare ourselves for a future of sustainable mobility, also in view of the debut of the new hybrid Rally 1 cars that will take place in the race in January in Montecarlo in the next world championship 2022 ».
