The case of fishing in the Bonifacio nature reserve: the appeal court has decided, to avoid the trial in Ajaccio now only the hope of the Supreme Court remains

SASSARI. The Court of Appeal decided that the three fishermen from Sorso, who ended up at the center of a diplomatic case between Sardinia and Corsica, must be handed over to the French authorities. Now the three young people aged 27, 30 and 31 have only one last hope left: the appeal to the Supreme Court. Yesterday’s sentence was a severe blow to the young people and their lawyers, but all is not lost. The margins are very narrow but, albeit faint, there is the hope of not having to undergo the trial in Ajaccio.

]The three fishermen are accused by the French justice of violence and threats against a public official, obstruction to the functions of an official, violations of environmental crimes, fishing within an area designated as a protected natural reserve. Crimes that would have taken place in the natural reserve of the Strait of Bonifacio on 2 July 2020.
