Region, majority verification is underway

by admin

The president of the Lavevaz Region has begun meetings with the political forces that support his council, starting with the PCP

AOSTA. With the awaited bill on budgetary adjustment packaged and today being examined by the Valley Council, the President of the Region Erik Lavevaz is now concentrating on another thorny issue: majority verification.

The political situation in the Region remained pending after the resignation of the councilor for the Environment and Transport, Chiara Minelli, and the step backwards of Erika Guichardaz from her post as president of the Social Services Commission. The proxies previously entrusted to Minelli are temporarily followed by President Erik Lavevaz who has now begun a round of consultations.

Yesterday, during the work break of the Regional Council, Lavevaz met with the three political components of the Progressive Civic Project (Democratic Party, Civic Network and Democratic Area) and the regional councilors of the group. The meetings will continue with the autonomist forces that currently make up the majority. At the end of the consultations, Lavevaz will have to have the necessary elements to decide which path to take and whether to proceed with a reshuffle.

There are more than one knots to untie. The PCP would like to restore the presence of at least one woman in the regional executive and the choice, in this case, can only fall on Erika Guichardaz. She is the only other councilor of the majority, but she is also the only other component of the PCP critical of some positions of the rest of the majority and of the PCP. Lavevaz will therefore have to evaluate the opportunity to propose it to the council while looking at the numbers. The CPP’s seven advisers are vital to the majority.

Since Minelli’s resignation, the Progressive Civic Project has repeatedly confirmed its support for the Lavevaz Council, at the same time asking for verification of compliance with the program agreed at the beginning of the legislature.

The new president of Union Valdôtaine Cristina Machet, in one interview with Aostaoggi.it, underlined the importance of ensuring political stability, adding that “efforts must be made” to maintain the current majority.
