According to Luyang media news, at about 12:40 noon that day, a self-built house in Luyang Town collapsed. Most reports only used “a building” and “a private house” to vaguely refer to the house, and did not specify the number of floors; the report also did not mention the number of trapped, dead or injured, only that 8 people have been rescued. , And all were sent to the local hospital for treatment, with normal vital signs.
In addition, it was reported that more than 400 firefighters, armed police, militia and other personnel were sent to the rescue site and 76 rescue vehicles were used to search and rescue using life detectors and search and rescue dogs; Hunan Fire and Rescue Corps, Changsha, Zhuzhou, Hengyang, Xiangtan, Xunbao and other fire detachments rushed to the scene.

The Epoch Times learned that the specific location of the incident was Yuntou Road in Luyang Town. Lu Yuan (a pseudonym), the owner of a nearby FAW repair shop, told reporters, “(The house) was pressed down all at once. At that time, the smoke was very heavy, and I just saw it. One layer on top of it fell down in an instant.”
According to Lu Yuan, this is a new house built only two or three years ago, with six and a half or seven floors. There are ten households in the building, with a total of thirty or forty people. They are basically tenants, and the landlord lives on the top floor. The new building collapsed because the foundation was being dug next to it, “it was too deep.”
Regarding the number of deaths and injuries, as of about 10 o’clock that night, Lu Yuan heard that more than ten had died. He personally believed that “the deaths should be 20 or 30.”
“It seems that there are no people living on the first floor. The second and third floors are quite miserable. Now only the two (upper) floors have been saved. Two or three floors have been built. There are not many deaths on the top six or seven floors. There are more deaths.” He said, “It’s great to be able to save half of it. There can be no more than ten people alive, so many people will definitely die.”
He also said that there was a car washing shop next to the collapsed building, which was also crushed. At present, the surrounding area has been sealed off. “The surrounding area is relatively dead, and the scene cannot be seen. The road is closed.” Rescue is still in progress.
There are also suspected local netizens who posted on Zhihu saying that the site was expanded and sealed off 1 kilometer around. As of 21:00, 11 people had been rescued, and one of them died because the rescue failed.
