Covid: threats via email to Hope, 4 suspects

Rome, 2 April (beraking latest news Salute) – As a result of articulated and complex investigations conducted under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rome, the soldiers of the Operational Department of the NAS, in the provinces of Turin, Cagliari, Varese and Enna, have implemented 4 decrees of Local and personal search of as many Italian citizens held responsible for having sent, between October 2020 and January 2021, numerous e-mails with a seriously threatening content addressed to the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza.

To be investigated for “aggravated threat”, thanks to the use of sophisticated telematic investigative techniques put in place by the Carabinieri del Nas under the constant coordination of the Capitoline Prosecutor’s Office, are as mentioned 4 Italians, aged between 35 and 55, residents in Turin, Cagliari, Varese and Enna, some with police records similar to the crime that is now being challenged, hidden behind e-mail addresses managed by servers located in non-European countries.

Of extreme gravity, the threats that, in the aforementioned period of time, the suspects formulated and all connected with the government measures and restrictions adopted in relation to the pandemic emergency from Covid-19: with offensive, hateful and contemptuous tones, in fact, the messages envisaged retaliation and violent actions against the Minister and his family, also containing explicit death threats.

“… Instead of the lockdown we kill your family, you want to starve Italy … sooner or later we kill your family and then we skin you alive”; “You are … to be crushed to trample on to hate and to kill hanging upside down ..”; “You will pay dearly for all the terror you are causing”; “You will regret being born”; “Your end is near”; “You will not get away with it”; “…. you will have a bad end … if you don’t understand it with good luck so I can also … make you understand it in the other way … more brutal”; “Mr. Minister, we will see you soon either in court or in the morgue …”: these are just some of the violent expressions addressed and contained in the e-mails acquired by the military of the Nas Operations Department accompanying the complaint presented by Minister Speranza.

During the searches, conducted with the support of the Carabinieri of the Antisophistication and Health Units and the territorially competent departments of the Arma, the electronic devices in use by the suspects were seized, on which the related investigations and technical investigations will be initiated also aimed at detecting any connections with other people or groups.
