Tip: How to switch the three sizes of the Windows 11 taskbar-Windows 11

by admin

The Windows 11 image has been sneaked away yesterday. I believe that some friends who are willing to try it out have tested it on compatible devices or virtual machines. Windows 11 is an enhanced version of Windows 10 with Windows 10X Shell and some modern features. UI elements including the Start menu, Windows Search and Action Center are all borrowed from Windows 10X.

Yesterday’s report on this site has already introduced how to restore the classic start menu with dynamic tiles, and adjust the taskbar icons such as the start or search buttons to the left. The foreign media Windows Lastest digs deeper and found that there are three different sizes of the taskbar in the Windows 11 system: large, medium, and small.

Big

small

The medium number is the default setting of the taskbar, which is a balance between the desktop and the tablet. The large size is suitable for tablet devices, and the small size brings a more compact appearance. Currently, if you want to change the size of the taskbar, you need to modify the “TaskbarSi” value through the following steps.

1. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following path.

2. HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoft WindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced

3. Create a new DWORD entry named “TaskbarSi”. Change the DWORD value to modify the size of the taskbar.

0 = small

1 = Medium

2 = large

4. Close the registry editor and restart Windows Explorer to view the changes.

Currently, there does not seem to be any way to do this through the local settings application. The modern and redesigned settings application will most likely include an option to change the size of the taskbar. The taskbar customization settings are not necessarily surprising, because the preview version of Windows 10X also has three taskbar sizes.
